Last month Austin Mayor Lee Leffingwell made a much-debated statement while answering questions on Reddit: He said Taco Cabana makes some of his favorite breakfast tacos.

Mando Rayo, a self-described “taco journalist” in a city that takes its breakfast tacos very seriously, decided to press the issue. On Tuesday, Rayo picked up breakfast tacos from one of his favorite Austin taco spots, Veracruz All Natural, and hand-delivered them to Mayor Leffingwell’s office.

The Police Activities League (PAL) of Austin hosted a boxing show on Saturday, April 5, at the Pan Am Rec Center.

Boxers age eight to 21 participated in 25 matches throughout the afternoon. "PAL is designed to support at-risk youth in our community by offering these children a safe place to gather and enjoy educational and social benefits, as well as athletic opportunities," organizers write. "The goal of the program is to prevent and combat juvenile delinquency and to promote and improve the moral and civic standards of youth."

Austin-Bergstrom International Airport held a full-scale disaster response exercise on its airfield today, allowing first responders to practice their skills using an actual airplane.

The drill involved aircraft, firefighters, EMS responders, medical service vehicles and more. Several volunteers played the role of plane crash victims, complete with simulated injuries. Responders even tagged volunteers' bodies via a triage system, ranking them by the medical attention required.
