Here at O'Dark Central, we're getting ready to celebrate that most American of holidays, Thanksgiving. Wait -- maybe Independence Day is the most American of holidays. That seems right. Don't they do Thanksgiving in Canada, too, but on a different day? But then again, most countries celebrate their own Independence Day, and Abkhazia even does theirs on July 4, if wikipedia is to be believed on this subject.
So to celebrate our confusion, we're going to bring you stories from many lands. We'll kick things off with a new installment of
View and Brews Remix, the only show KUT produces that's recorded live in a bar. Host Rebecca McInroy will talk with a star-studded panel of smart people on the subject "What is an American?"
And then we'll bring you two pieces from O'Dark buddy Jake Warga, as he travels to Papua New Guinea and Africa....

Happy Friday, O'Darkers! It seems like we've been hearing an awful lot about this F1 thing lately, and it must be some kind of big deal because they've shut down half of downtown to make way for it. But we here at O'Dark Central are savvy shoppers, and we've learned never to jump at the first version of these newfangled doodads; we're going to do the smart thing and wait until they get all the bugs worked out for the F2, which will probably be out in like six months anyway.
