Donated Fans Keep Central Texans Cool
Folks enjoyed live music and donated fans to Family Eldercare- a non profit that helps older adults and people with disabilities. The group's distributing fans to Central Texans who can't afford air conditioning. Linda Hajjar donated $50 at the fan drive. "We're going from buildings to cars that are all air conditioned and we are hot every day, so I just can't even imagine what it's like! And it just makes you feel good when you can do something that means something to somebody," said Hajjar. Karen Langley is executive director for Family Eldercare. She says with record heat this summer, staying cool is a safety issue. "We've gotten over 6,000 fans out already, we hope to get out at least another 2,000 if not more," said Langley. Donations will also be used to buy window ACs. Those will be given to people with medical needs. More than $16,000 in donations had been collected by 10 a.m. Click here for more information about the fan drive.
