EXPLORING ANTARCTICA

Hosted by Crystal Chavez

About the Show

Blanco Middle School science teacher Kirk Beckendorf is in McMurdo, Antarctica this month. He’s doing polar research with a team of scientists through the PolarTREC program. Their main mission is to work on more than 60 weather stations located around the continent. Those stations collect weather data that is a vital part of scientific projects in Antarctica. Beckendorf is interested in how the data relates to climate change. But as you’ll hear in his podcasts to KUT, his adventures include a wide range of topics from wildlife to survival.

KUT’s Crystal Chavez is bringing you the latest news from McMurdo, posting Beckendorf’s podcasts regularly.
