When Texas-born and New Orleans-based percussionist/vibraphonist Mike Dillon isn’t backing Les Claypool or Ani Difranco, he’s leading his own groups. Dillon’s the brains behind punk-funksters Billy Goat, Hairy Apes BMX and now the current Go-Go Jungle, with Kansas City-based “drum counselor” Go-Go Ray on the skins and JJ Richards on bass. The group’s experimental funk junk is honed but not homogenized on new release Battery Milk. Hear Mike Dillon’s Go-Go Jungle live Monday at 2 p.m. on Music with Jay Trachtenberg.
