About the Show

Blue Monday makes it feel real good to feel so bad. From classic bluesmen like Lightnin’ Hopkins, John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters, to local favorites Doug Sahm, Toni Price, and Ray Benson – and of course, Stevie Ray Vaughan – Larry Monroe wraps up Monday night with a cathartic dose of the blues.

About Our Host

Larry Monroe
In Austin since: Summer, 1977

Favorite thing(s) about Austin:
I can drive my Alfa Romeo Spider with the top down over 300 days a year. Stacy Park. And, of course, the music.

If I had more time, I would...:
Write three books: Biography of Townes Van Zandt, my own autobiography and a time travel mystery novel called "The Bottomless Cup."

Work/on-air history:
For more than two decades, Larry Monroe has been a prolific, artistic contributor to KUT-FM. His work has helped shape the station's musical soul. Using his programs as the vehicles, Monroe has been transported listeners across aural landscapes -- and everyone enjoys the ride.

Top 5 favorite or influential records:
This category asks for 5 musicians or albums. I'm gonna list six musicians: Chuck Berry, Bob Dylan, Commander Cody, Butch Hancock, Townes Van Zandt & Willie Nelson. Explanations to follow sometime soon...
