The current queen of hip hop proved herself to the gigantic crowd.
MIA earned a spot in KUT DJ Jeff McCord’s top five list for ACL 2007, and she lived up to his recommendation (and all the hype). Her performance was exhilarating: full of struts, swagger and all the charm she could muster. The hip hop diva (known to her parents as Mathangi “Maya” Arulpragasam) performed a variety of songs from her catalog, but focused intently on this year’s breakout full-length, Kala.
