Thousand turned out to say their final goodbyes to former Texas Governor Ann Richards Monday. KUT’s Ben Philpott reports.
Former Texas Governor Ann Richards was buried Monday in the Republic Hill section of the Texas State Cemetery. More than 500 people attended the private ceremony. Just a few hours later about four thousand people attended a public memorial at the University of Texas at Austin’s Frank Erwin center. While this morning’s rain kept a somber mood at the cemetery as KUT’s Ben Philpott reports the memorial service was a celebration.
