Former Texas governor Ann Richards was an icon in Texas and around the country. She was seen as a maverick in politics – breaking down barriers for women and minorities during her time in the governor’s office. But many also remember her as a down to earth Texan—with a razor sharp wit. That wit was on full display during a 2004 speech for a public radio convention in Austin.
