Led by guitarist and vocalist Will Sheff, the inventive streak of Austin’s indie folk-rock outfit Okkervil River becomes more profound and visionary with each subsequent release. This year’s Stage Names is a further stepping stone in the band’s discography, with signature, emotional caterwauls from Sheff and a searching, volatile sound from the string-laden group.
