Street Closures en Austin Holiday Weekend: Zilker Tree Lighting, Chuy's Kids Parade (MAP) <p>With Thanksgiving over, Austin turns to the winter holidays this&nbsp;weekend.&nbsp;</p><p><a href="">The Zilker Holiday Tree</a>&nbsp;returns for the holiday season on Sunday. Celebrating&nbsp; its&nbsp;47th&nbsp;lightning ceremony, the Holiday Tree will remain lit nightly, from 6 p.m. until midnight, until Dec. 31.</p><p>Taking place on Saturday is the&nbsp;annual&nbsp;<a href="">Chuy’s Children Giving to Children Parade</a>. The parade, benefiting <a href="">Operation Blue Santa</a>, begins at 11 a.m. in downtown Austin.&nbsp;<span style="line-height: 1.5;">That means street closures from 6 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday. McLaren driver <a href="" target="_blank">Lewis Hamilton won the U.S. Grand Prix</a>.</p><p>Thousands of F1 fans are now headed to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. Officials say today could be one of the busiest days ever at the airport. To help with increased demand, airlines added seven flights today and a total of more than 2,500 additional seats.</p><p>The city is expecting heavy traffic around the airport and longer-than-normal screening lines. Here’s a rundown of the partial closures:</p><p> Fri, 02 Nov 2012 21:22:00 +0000 Wells Dunbar 5509 at Overnight Crashes Leave Three Dead <p>It was a dangerous night on Austin roads as three separate incidents lead to three deaths.</p><p>The lower deck of Interstate 35 was closed at the split this morning, due to a fatality in the 3200 block of the interstate.</p><p><a href="" target="_blank">KXAN spoke</a> with Austin Police&nbsp;Sgt. Daniel Watson; he told the station a man was “running in the lanes” along the interstate, near St. David’s Hospital, and was killed after getting hit by a truck. The motorist stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities.</p><p>In southeast Travis County, <a href="" target="_blank">another pedestrian and auto collision</a> occurred at Highway 71 East and FM 973. The incident closed all westbound lanes of Highway 71. Juan Navarro Funeral <p>A funeral for an Austin soldier slain in Afghanistan is heading to Killeen this afternoon.</p><p>Starting at 1 p.m., officers are escorting Sergeant Juan Navarro&rsquo;s body from Austin to Killeen for burial. The funeral procession starts in North Austin and will head south on Lamar to Koenig Lane. It will then head to I-35 before exiting to 195 toward Kileen.</p><p>Sergeant Navarro was killed in an attack <a href="" target="_blank">on July 7 in Kandahar, Afghanistan</a>.
