And the city’s asking the neighborhood for input on the changes.</p><p>A door-to-door survey of Colony Park residents starts today. Through the middle of the month, volunteers hope to complete 450 surveys. That’s about 10 percent of the number of households in the five Colony Park census tracts.</p><p><a href="">As KUT News previously reported</a>, a new master plan&nbsp;for the Colony Park neighborhood will use a $3 million grant from the U.S. Department of&nbsp;<a href="">Housing and Urban Development</a> to remake the area. The city’s in the process of planning the use of 200-plus acres of vacant, Austin-owned land near Overton Elementary School.</p><p> Wed, 06 Nov 2013 22:14:41 +0000 Carrie Powell 9112 at Survey Asks Colony Park Residents What They Need from the Neighborhood It's National Night Out in Austin <p>Tonight will mark the 29th&nbsp;annual National Night Out. &nbsp;And all over Texas, citizens will be turning their porch light on and spending the evening meeting with neighbors, police officers and public safety responders.</p><p>National Night Out is designed to heighten crime prevention and awareness, strengthen neighborhood bonds and, most importantly, send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back against crime.</p><p>Austin is marking National&nbsp;Night Out with an event at <a href=";oid=112126">The&nbsp;Domain</a> this evening. The event will start at 5 p.m. and representatives from the Austin Police Department, Travis County Sheriff’s Department and Austin Energy will be there to help educate people about crime prevention.
