Dubbed "a dream combination of punk vandalism and hyper-intelligent, seldom heard, humoristic musicality" by Roots Town Music Magazine, San Francisco's The Waybacks play bluegrass-based music throughout their latest release Loaded, but this is clearly a band that likes to rock.
March 25, 2008: Jim Noir

Manchester, England singer/songwriter Jim Noir's real name is Alan Roberts. His stage name is in homage to surreal English comedian Vic Reeves, whose real name is Jim Moir. Noir offers his own keen and clever sense of humor to ‘60s inspired psychedelic pop-electronica with a fuzzbox on his one-man production Tower of Love. But when he performs live he brings his full band, as seen and heard on Maggie Mae's rooftop last week for SXSW 2008. In case you missed the eclectic Noir, hear him and the band, complete with a Speak and Spell, live from Studio 1B.
