All this fall, the folks at Barton Hill Farms are hosting the Fall Festival and Corn Maze. There'll be food, games for the kids, tons of live music, and a five-acre corn maze, which brings us to an interesting bit of trivia: many corn mazes in the southern U.S. are actually made of sorghum. The type of sorghum used for mazes around here is visually very similar to corn, but it's a little better environmentally, using less water and holding better in drought conditions. We still call them "corn mazes," though, because "sorghum maze" is a horrible name. The maze is designed to be traversed in a few ways.
