Painter Andy St. Martin and sculptor Chris Levack have been friends and studiomates for the past decade and a half, but they've never exhibited works together until now. This was partially a matter of practicality; while Andy's work has often been shown in galleries, Chris's sculptures tend to be large-scale and functional, the sort of thing that couldn't really fit inside a gallery.
Now they've created Uneven Surfaces and the Wooden Lens, a showing of paintings and sculptures that were created individually but which compliment one another when viewed in a shared space. As Andy says, "It was our hope that our individual works would occupy the same space and enhance each's existence without interference or hierarchy."

Poor Shadows of Elysium is a new Austin theater company specializing in faithful stagings of the plays of the English Renaissance. Their debut show is Richard II, one of Shakespeare's histories that the company feels is underperformed.
While the production is true to the text of the play and staged in a traditional manner, there is one unusual twist: the lead roles of Richard and Bolingbroke will be played by Kevin Gates and Aaron Black, but who will play whom each night will be decided by an onstage coin flip before the performance.
In a perfect fit, Richard II is being performed at the Curtain Theatre, the scale replica Elizabethan theater built by Richard Garriott on the banks of Lake Austin.
