I've just been listening back to the "Speed of Light for Pyramids" episode of 99% Invisible, and boy is that some fascinating stuff in there. 99% Invisible is usually pretty interesting, but this episode, about the construction of the Egyptian pyramids, is really catching my ear. Hopefully it'll catch yours, too.
Then we'll bring you another installment of Jake Warga's series The Things They Carry. If you've been listening to the show and/or the podcasts lately, you've probably heard an episode or two of this series; in each one, we hear from a man or woman serving in Afghanistan as they describe the things -- physical and emotional -- that they carry every day. In this installment, we'll hear from Staff Sergeant Christen Cohen.

So it turns out the world didn't end this morning, even though lots of dimwits on the iterwebs told us it would. That's good news overall, I guess, but it also means that now we've got to slap together a podcast at the last minute. Luckily, we've got some cool audio biz lying around.
This one is...

A week ago, we brought you a new episode of John Pierson's
Master Class and took that as an opportunity to mock O'Dark alum Rebecca McInroy; we mentioned that, unlike our buddy John, Rebecca's the kind of boring nobody who's never even met Robert Redford, much less feuded with him. Well,...

Master Class. John's always producing movies or writing books or flying off to Fiji or...

Like most of you, the O'Dark staff is off work today, scattered around the nation in various states of food-induced stupor. Knowing that none of us would be in any shape to actually work on the day after Thanksgiving, we've pre-produced this podcast write up and scheduled it to go live on the...

Happy Friday, O'Darkers! It seems like we've been hearing an awful lot about this F1 thing lately, and it must be some kind of big deal because they've shut down half of downtown to make way for it. But we here at O'Dark Central are savvy shoppers, and we've learned never to jump at the first...

Hello and a merry Christmas to you all! We love our listeners and interweb followers a lot, but not quite as much as we love taking Christmas off and spending some time with our families far away from O'Dark Central. So we've pre-loaded this holiday greeting as our way of saying "Mery Christmas and...

With Christmas just a week away, things are getting hard-core festive around O'Dark Central. There's mistletoe and holly all over the place, Hawk seems to be on an all egg nog diet, and David's been riding to work on a reindeer. But we're not letting the holiday cheer stop us from churning out...

Happy holidays, interweb friends! It's a cold December morning, Christmas is two weeks away, and we're getting into the spirit of the season by bringing you the first Christmas piece of the podcast year! But since this is still O'Darkville, we're also bringing you a Halloween piece for no apparent...

Well, how do you do, Interweb friends of ours? It's another hot, sticky, sweaty day in Austin. That might seem weird and a little disconcerting if you're out Christmas shopping, but it's perfect weather for talking about Tennessee Williams, so it works out great for today's podcast. We've got no...

Boy oh boy, it's really starting to get holidayish around here! We're already done with Thanksgiving and Christmas is coming on fast. Holiday music is playing, there's holly everywhere, and everything smells like candy canes. It's even going to stay under 80 degrees today, just like at the North...

Here at O'Dark Central, we're getting ready to celebrate that most American of holidays, Thanksgiving. Wait -- maybe Independence Day is the most American of holidays. That seems right. Don't they do Thanksgiving in Canada, too, but on a different day? But then again, most countries celebrate their...

We've done a little research (by which I mean guessing) around here and it turns out that the three most-searched-for words on the interwebs are "pornography," "violence," and "bacteria." With that fact in mind, we've crafted a podcast that should get us more web attention than we know what to do...
