The first time I saw Megafauna live was at the 29th Street Ballroom at Spider House. Since your Austin Music Minute maven has no qualms about rockin' out, I was front and center by the stage. Just ask guitarist and vocalist Dani Neff. It's truly a rock show with this band. Megafauna's approach is a mixture of subtleties, intricate arrangements, varying tempos, and bits of shoegaze and psych. Neff's vocals are the crowning jewel. Yet, there is also the unmistakable rock-goddess brutality, reminding you that the bone-rattling turbulence of Neff’s monster guitar riffs are not necessarily for the faint of heart.
