It is a most profound experience to listen to Put Your Back N 2 It, the second album from songwriter Mike Hadreas' musical project Perfume Genius.
Hadreas is an open book. His lyrics paint powerful, sometimes surreal, oftentimes painful images. He is open about his sexuality, and has no apologies for wearing his heart on his sleeve. But there's no pity party going on here. Instead, you pick up a clear feeling of empathy, a stirring voice for those who agonize over their own inner turmoil.
