The Texas Department of Public Safety has released some details on the cost of providing security for Governor Rick Perry during his presidential campaign.
The bill comes to almost $800,000 for the governor’s security detail between September and part of November. Most of that was for trips out of state during his election campaign.
Security costs for the rest of Perry’s presidential campaign, which ended last week, will be released later.
Some Democrats have called on Perry to reimburse the state for the security costs. Perry’s office has said he will not do that, because he’s promoting Texas anywhere he travels....
