About Get Involved: Forums

For the past 5 years, KUT has been spotlighting one local organization on air each month as part of a monthly series known as Get Involved. In 2011, KUT is committed to expanding its support of the non-profit community. To this end, we have launched Get Involved: Forums. Our forum series aims to identify key issues in Austin and bring the community together to promote civic discourse around the issue. Our pilot effort will explore Musician’s Healthcare in Austin and we invite you to join our first forum at the Cactus Cafe. The forum will consist of a panel with people involved/affected by the chosen topic. Our first panel will feature community leaders from local non-profits HAAM (Health Alliance for Austin Musicians) and SIMS Foundation along with local musicians. The panel will identify and explore the issue and there will be time for audience Q & A.

Our goal with the forums is to create a sort of Austin town hall where the community can educate and be educated, meet each other and partner together to affect local change. Our goal is to provide all the community resources gathered along the way online – each issue will be represented in the Get Involved section of the website. Because we are fortunate to work in a community with such involved, generous folks, you’ll notice that the Get Involved section of the website is expanding because of community participation. All our forum topics will feature rich multimedia, interactive experiences and the stories of the Austin community produced by your Get Involved team, students and community contributors.

We invite you to explore these stories and find out how you can Get Involved.

This is a pilot project, and as such, we want your feedback! Please email us at getinvolved@gmail.com with questions, comments, suggestions.
