The Texas Music Matters team is spotlighting seven SXSW up-and-comers. These profiles are airing daily on KUTX 98.9 at 6:15 AM, 10:15 AM, and 6:30 PM Monday through Sunday, and on KUT 90.5 at 9:35 AM, Monday through Friday and at 7:34 AM Saturday and Sunday.
Ronnie Fauss is just one of the seven artists the Texas Music Matters team chose to profile. If you like your rock and roll with a little country swagger, chances are you’re gonna love him. With a vocal quality not a little unlike, say, Jeff Tweedy—and a storytelling style firmly grounded in the Texas tradition– Fauss found himself signed to a major label as the result of playing the coffeehouses of Houston. These days he calls the Dallas Metroplex ‘home’, and has become a favorite of the Denton crowd. But he’s set to break out in Austin and beyond with his SXSW 2013 showcases. That’s why the music team at KUTX is picking Ronnie Fauss as one of the “Ones to Watch” this year.
