AE 498: Austin Seen

Photographer Jo Ann Santagelo originally moved to Austin in 2006; after leaving for a couple of years and returning in 2010, she began to document the ongoing changes she was noticing in the city. Considering how fast things can change in Austin, that documentation became an ongoing, daily routine.

The latest photos in that series, taken from 2011 to the present, make up the ever-evolving exhibition Austin Seen, in progress… They’re on display at Falcon 5, Santangelo’s “contained art space,” which is made from a converted shipping container and is now at its new home at 705 Gunter Street in east Austin. The photos will be on exhibition through April 2, and Santangelo is on hand at Falcon 5 most days if patrons want to discuss the works with the artist. The exhibition will also be constantly changing; she’ll add fresh photos to the mix as she takes and develops them.
