Storytelling: Flying With The Moth

Once upon a time…

Many stories you know or remember probably start that way. But there are actually all kinds of ways to tell a story. And all kinds of people tell them.

The Moth is a national storytelling organization that fosters and promotes the art of long-form personal storytelling. The group held a show last week at the Paramount Theater in Austin and is coming to KUT’s airwaves starting in January.

KUT’s Jennifer Stayton talked with The Moth’s Senior Producer Maggie Cino about what makes a good story. Cino says a lot of ingredients are needed. One is vital:

It means something to the teller. That it’s something that they feel strongly about. That it’s a moment in their life that really affected them and really changed them.
