AUSTIN, Texas – Dec. 18, 2012 – National Edward R. Murrow award-winning journalist and KUT News reporter Nathan Bernier has been named KUT host of NPR’s “All Things Considered.” He assumes the role from Bob Branson who will become the KUT midday host when KUT 90.5 becomes a full-time news and information service on Jan. 2.

Bernier, who joined KUT News in 2008, has earned numerous journalism awards, including from the Radio Television Digital News Association, the Texas Associated Press and the Houston Press Club.

As host of NPR’s “All Things Considered,” Bernier will host in-studio interviews and live reports from KUT News reporters during breaking news events. He will continue to report on local and statewide news.

“This is the first time KUT has had a full-time journalist host ‘All Things Considered’ on KUT,” said KUT Program Director Keith Neisler. “Having KUT journalists supplement national news programming with local news during the morning and afternoon drive times reinforces our efforts to be a source of live news from early morning through the early evening.”

Branson, who has hosted “All Things Considered” since 2002, will serve as KUT’s host for “BBC’s World Have Your Say,” “Talk of the Nation” and “The World” from noon to 4 p.m. weekdays.

“I’m looking forward to a schedule that will allow me to enjoy dinners with my wife,” said Branson.
