Live Music in Studio 1A

Studio 1A has its own separate concrete slab, which is separated from the rest of the building’s foundation by a one-foot concrete barrier. Then, a layer of foam blocks rest on the concrete. Finally, Texas Pecan wood covers the floor. All of this combines to make Studio 1A an acoustically-sound place.
We took the construction of Studio 1A very seriously in the KUT Public Media Studios. The artists we host desire nothing less.
We now are so proud to be able to welcome musicians into the building to play. We provide them with hospitality in the Robin Ratliff Shivers Greenroom and then invite them into a studio created with artists in mind.
From The Gourds to Michael Franti and Kat Edmonson, we host a variety of artists for you to enjoy. It is because of listener support that we are able to ensure Cliff Hargrove is ready to engineer the sound and Jay Trachtenberg is on hand to introduce the band. Thank you for your support in the past. In this time of charitable giving, we hope you will make a donation to KUT. We will spend it wisely on live music performances that you enjoy.
