Kinky @ KUT 12/17/12
Monterrey, Mexico’s alt-rock darlings Kinky have been a force in the world of Latin music since their debut album was released in 2002. They’ve earned a number of nominations from the Latin Grammys and the Latin MTV Video Music Awards. They’ve made fans out of diverse acts like Cake, Shakira, De La Soul, and The Flaming Lips, touring with all of them. The band, now a five piece, first came together as a trio back in 2000, and really got their start when they played a Battle of the Bands at the annual Latin Alternative Music Conference in New York City. Out of a whole heap of competitors, Kinky emerged victorious, and haven’t stopped winning since. Kinky will play a show at Stubb’s on Monday night.
