Chances are a lot of you may have found yourself at some point in your life stuck in your house or apartment without power, because a tree or branch fell on an electrical line. Today the Public Utility Commission of Texas will vote on rules that aim to make that a little less likely in the future. KUT’s Mose Buchele reports for StateImpact Texas.
I’m like everyone. Cut everybody else’s trees, just leave mine alone, right? That’s what most people think. The truth is that this is a serious discussion. I would be willing to sacrifice some trees in order to keep the power system more reliable.

Why not bury the power lines rather than chopping down all the trees? Then they could grow unrestrained… Seems like the “green” thing to do.
