Hutchison Bids Farewall to U.S. Senate

December 19, 2012 5:37 pm by: Mark Dewey

U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison said goodbye to her colleagues on the Senate floor today. First elected in 1993, when Ann Richards was Governor, Hutchison is the longest-serving Republican woman in the Senate. She reflected on her life, her Texas roots and her career.

“It has been such an honor to serve in the United States Senate,” Hutchison said. “And I leave with the hope that the values that built America into the greatest nation on Earth will be protected.”

Hutchison’s seat will be filled in January by Ted Cruz.
