It’s a homegrown episode of the big ‘cast today, featuring a couple of pieces produced by folks we actually know personally. First up, it’s the premier episode of the 2012 season of John Pierson’s Master Class. John’s always producing movies or writing books or flying off to Fiji or catching piranhas or feuding with Robert Redford, so he qualifies as one of the more interesting folks we know. In between all that adventuring, he also finds time to sit down several times a year with filmmakers and talk with them about their work. Those conversations form the always fascinating Master Class series, and today’s installment of that show finds John chatting it up with Peter Hedges, who wrote What’s Eating Gilbert Grape and About a Boy and wrote and directed Pieces of April and The Odd Life of Timothy Green.
And then we’ve got something from KUT’s own Rebecca McInroy, who sits two cubes down and has never met Robert Redford. She might not catch piranhas, but she does host a talk show of her own, Views and Brews Remix. On this episode of V&B, she and a panel of guests talk about the Golden Record, the document of humanity that was launched into space on the Voyager spacecraft in 1977. Pretty interesting stuff right there.
