Coal Plant Facing New Delays

There aren’t many coal plants under construction in Texas, and one of the few still being planned is facing new setbacks. KUT’s Terrence Henry reports for StateImpact Texas.

Al Armendariz, Senior Representative for the Sierra Club’s Beyond Coal campaign, says White Stallion’s air permit is being contested in court. And it has faced issues securing water to operate. Under its current air permit, White Stallion has until the end of next year to begin construction. The company says once completed, it could provide power for about a quarter of a million Texas homes during times of peak demand.
