Christy Hays & Her Sunday Best and The Austin Steamers Play Tonight at Hole In the Wall

It’s an Austin Music Minute double treat today, featuring two of my local faves, Christy Hays and The Austin Steamers.
After building a solid repertoire playing various shows around town with her band Her Sunday Best, Hays released her soulful 11-track debut, Drought, in September. Hays’ tales of love and loss are sung with great candor but also an unmistakable elegance. There’s an awesome contrast between the no-nonsnese lyrics and her delicate vocal delivery.
I’ve said before that The Austin Steamers deliver some of the best performances of original and traditional string-picking music with guitar, banjo, mandolin and stand-up bass. Each band member brings more than enough talent to launch into a bunch of solo sets to blow your mind, but it’s the collaboration of these individuals that brings extraordinary magic to the performance.
