Wanda Jackson @ KUT 12/1/12

November 30, 2012 10:37 am by: Reid O'Conor

Wanda Jackson‘s website boasts her as “The First Lady of Rockabilly” and “America’s first female Rock and Roll singer.” Both are some pretty bold claims, but they’re not undeserved. Jackson’s contribution to the history of rock and roll has been enormous, and it’s undeniable that she had a big hand in forming the genre. In 2009, Wanda Jackson was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at the encouragement of artists like Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello and Bruce Springsteen. Her newest album, Unfinished Business, was produced by Justin Townes Earle, and was released in October. Wanda Jackson will be in town this weekend, playing at Antone’s on Saturday night. You can hear her play live on KUT in Studio 1a RIGHT HERE!
