Here at O’Dark Central, we’re getting ready to celebrate that most American of holidays, Thanksgiving. Wait — maybe Independence Day is the most American of holidays. That seems right. Don’t they do Thanksgiving in Canada, too, but on a different day? But then again, most countries celebrate their own Independence Day, and Abkhazia even does theirs on July 4, if wikipedia is to be believed on this subject.

So to celebrate our confusion, we’re going to bring you stories from many lands. We’ll kick things off with a new installment of View and Brews Remix, the only show KUT produces that’s recorded live in a bar. Host Rebecca McInroy will talk with a star-studded panel of smart people on the subject “What is an American?”

And then we’ll bring you two pieces from O’Dark buddy Jake Warga, as he travels to Papua New Guinea and Africa.
