Oh, cursed Black Friday! Finding gifts for loved-ones is great, but crazed crowds…not so much. Need relief? Do what I do – turn to music to unwind the soul. And that leads me to today’s recommendation on the Austin Music Minute, a guaranteed feast for the ears featuring fabulous local talent and great music from New York.

Tonight’s delectable double-bill is at Hotel Vegas, 1500 E. 6th St. Check it:

Austin Cosmic-American pop outfit The Preservation brings a huge mix of influences to the table. Rock ‘n’ roll tearing it up with redneck hippie madness. Bring it.

Brooklyn-based surf/garage-rock duo Crushed Out, featuring Frank Hoier on guitar and vocals and Moselle Spiller on drums, whips up a mad adrenalin rush of wicked fuzzed-out jams.

It’ll do you good to see them both. Doors open at 9 p.m. for the show. Recommended. And say adios to them Black Friday blues.
