THE GOOD MUSIC CLUB: Hard Proof
Photo by Bert McLendon.Ladies and gentlemen, if this doesn’t get you off your feet and moving to the groove, you must not be alive. Brace yourself for another spectacular edition of The Good Music Club! Perhaps you know the story by now, but I’d greatly appreciate it if you shared this with your friends and loved ones. The GMC is a fun live monthly music event and online video series documenting the phenomenal musical talent that helps Austin live up to its stellar live music reputation. The GMC records performances by participating bands, then shares the high-quality HD videos with new fans and resources outside of Austin, including cities across the country and worldwide.
This week’s spotlight is on a very popular local band known for its crazy-good live performances, Hard Proof. The band’s specialty is a hybrid of funk and jazz inspired by the sounds out of sub-Saharan Africa, and rhythmic drumming influenced by the sounds of Southern Nigeria. Hard Proof gives you the whole nine yards – a myriad of horns, melodies and rhythms that groove and sway, an homage to the revolutionary father of Afrobeat, Fela Kuti. The night Hard Proof did their GMC taping, the room very nearly exploded with all the high energy. Incredible!
Plans are underway for the next set Good Music Club tapings on Saturday, November 24th at The ND, located at E. 5th St. and Brushy; Progress Coffee is just down the street. The list of bands performing will be announced very soon! Make plans to attend!
