Texas Third in Graduation Rate

Texas is tied for third among all states in the percentage of students graduating high school in four years.

New data from the U.S. Department of Education show 86 percent of Texas students graduated on time in the 2010 – 2011 school year.

Texas was tied with five other states and came in behind Iowa, Vermont and Wisconsin.

Among African Americans, Texas’ 81 percent graduation rate was tied for first in the nation. Texas tied for second among Hispanics, with an 82 percent graduation rate.
