Meeting Tonight on New High School

November 29, 2012 3:45 pm by: Mark Dewey

Plans are slowly moving forward for a new high school in South Austin, and the district is asking for community input at a 6:30 meeting tonight in the Bowie High School cafeteria.

Voters have already approved $32 million in bond funds to build it. But before the district buys land for the new school, it needs to decide what type of high school it will be. AISD Chief Operating Officer Lawrence Fryer said there are several options.

“International baccalaureate, STEM [science, technology, engineering and mathematics], early college high school, career and tech education, and combination of any of those or other scenarios,” Fryer said.
