Lawmakers Won’t Probe Copter Shooting

November 2, 2012 5:05 pm by: Matt Largey

The Legislature will not investigate an incident in South Texas last week where a state trooper shot at a fleeing truck from a helicopter. Two people were killed.

State Rep. Sid Miller, chairman of the Homeland Security and Public Safety Committee, said he found no violations of protocol in the incident and considered the issue closed.

DPS is still investigating the incident, and today it said the FBI and the Justice Department will do their own investigations.
