First of all, Happy Thanksgiving to all you Song of the Day diehards. We’re very, very thankful that we can share great tunes with you every weekday. It really is an honor to be able to play a part in helping you discover your new favorite song, or maybe just something you’ve never heard before. So from the bottom of our hearts, thank you!

Today we have a special treat for you. It’s a tune from Austin’s very own Graham Wilkinson recorded live in our very lovely new Studio 1A. If you’re not familiar with Wilkinson, the singer and songwriter has led somewhat of a troubadour’s life. He was born in small-town East Texas, spent time in music school in Arkansas, before making extended trips to Greece and Micronesia. He returned to Texas and set out on his musical journey here in Austin. He’s played punk to bluegrass, and probably everything in between. His third full-length record Yearbook (released in 2009) featured guest appearances from the likes of Alejandro Escovedo and Hayes Carll. His last release was last year’s The Spiritual Accessories EP.

Today’s song finds Wilkinson in an Americana kind of mood. “Handsome Molly” is a rollickin’ tune with some graceful, nimble fiddle lines. Wilkinson’s voice has just the right amount of grit. It’s the perfect song to compliment your Thanksgiving festivities this year.
