The Austin Music Minute maven digs the triple bills. This week, I present three songwriters to keep an eye on:  Wil Cope, Christy Hays and Ali Holder, all Austin-based artists who’ve turned heads with their impressive solo acoustic sets and with full-on bands.

Cope made his official debut with his Sunset Craves last year, produced by Heartless Bastards drummer David Colvin and featuring backing vocals by HB frontwoman Erika Wennerstrom. His new album, Drunk Are the Stars, should be coming out next month. Hays has made the rounds performing with her band, Christy Hays and Her Sunday Best, and released her debut, Drought, just last month. Holder, who moved to Austin in February 2010, entered the scene with new bandmates (keyboardist Matt Malone, bassist Daniel Simone, drummer Christian Rogers and trumpet player Michael Prohaska) and started playing around town as Ali Holder & Train Robbin’ Whiskey.  Her forthcoming album, In Preparation For Saturn’s Return, is scheduled for release next spring.

As you can see, there’s lots of new music to check out from all three. Don’t miss Wil Cope, Christy Hays and Ali Holder at their show Wednesday night at Frank, at 4th and Colorado. Doors open at 9 p.m. Recommended.
