Wow, is it October already? Seems like just a few days ago it was all warm and sunny and now here it is almost Columbus Day. The time, she does fly.
And how better to celebrate the changing of the months than with a fancy new podcast? We’ll start things off today with a fresh installment of one of our favorite new shows, Sounds Familiar. Each time out, producer Blake Cooper tackles a different aspect of pop culture, taking a look at a theme or trend that others might overlook. This time, he’s exploring the work of Foley artists, particularly the fine art of recreating the sounds of footsteps for film and television. There’s more to it than you might think.
After that, it’s off to the Cactus Café for a new installment of KUT’s Views and Brews Remix. Anytime she can, our own Rebecca McInroy gets together with rabbi and jazz historian Neil Blumofe at the Cactus to talk about jazz music. This time out, they’re chatting it up about “Billie Holiday and the Art of Persona,” with a live band featuring singer Pamela Hart along for the ride.
