A new single, new album, and new video are all on the plate for Austin rock-pop quartet The Couch. It was a hectic summer for the band as they tended to new material for their forthcoming yet-to-be-named album, set for release in December to follow up their first full-length, Old and Touchin’ Blue.

The band’s newest member, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Sarah Houser, has been performing Touchin’ Blue songs at The Couch shows, although she wasn’t on that album. But the band’s sound has come a long way since its early days as a trio. These tracks reveal a different and fuller dynamic, with Houser and frontman Taylor Wilkins each providing lead vocals and as a duo on the new release, including the single you hear on today’s Austin Music Minute, “Ghost.”

And let us not forget the new video for “Oh Libby,” a track they released in the summer, featuring Couch drummer Jud Johnson throwin’ shapes and sporting one electrifying blood-orange coat that can mainly be described as “pimptastic.” Check it out here.

To give fans a sneak peak of all the awesomeness on the horizon, The Couch is playing a single release show tonight at the Beauty Ballroom, 2015 E. Riverside Dr. It’s a great all-local line-up, featuring Smoke and Feathers, Zlam Dunk and Whitman. Doors open at 8 p.m. Recommended.
