Faith Bass Darling is getting ready for a trip and she’s selling all her worldly possessions; possessions that are imbued with history – her own and that of the small Texas town over which she’s reigned her whole life. Local author Lynda Rutledge gives KUT’s Emily Donahue a sense of what her Texas-based novel, “Faith Bass Darling’s Last Garage Sale,” is about.

Rutledge:

“The richest old lady in this very small town of Bass, Texas hears the voice of God tell her to pull out all her incredibly expensive antiques from the mansion that she was living in, out on the front lawn to have a garage sale. As you can imagine, chaos ensues.

The best books are the ones that make you laugh, maybe make you cry, but also make you think long after the book has ended.”

Lynda Rutledge will be speaking Saturday morning, October 27, at the Texas Book Festival in Austin.
