South by Southwest Eco kicks off today in Austin, for three days of panels and discussion about environmental issues.
For some, Eco may not hold the thrills of its more famous cousin, the SXSW music conference. But the world of environmental research does have its rock stars.
For StateImpact Texas, KUT’s Mose Buchele sat down with one of them, Michael Mann, director of the Earth System Science Center at Penn State, who has become the public face of the debate over climate change.
While the changes are actually unfolding even faster in many respects than we had predicted, and the science has become that much more solid, the gulf continues between what the science says and what one might gather from the public discourse on this issue.
