State to Exercise Disaster Preparedness
For the first time, Texas is staging a full-scale disaster-preparedness exercise that involves response from emergency-management agencies, hospital personnel, law enforcement, EMS and hazmat responders.
And they’re asking for 1,000 volunteers. Agencies from Travis, Hays and Williamson counties are teaming up in December for the so-called Urban Shield exercise. To enhance the fake emergency scenario, volunteers will act as pretend victims that need to be treated and decontaminated.
