English rocker Nick Lowe has had a more than prolific career as an artist and a songwriter. Over the course of his 40-plus year career, he has penned and performed hits such as “Cruel to Be Kind” and “What’s So Funny ‘Bout Peace, Love, and Understanding.” Recently, a bunch of top Texas and Tennessee artists got together to record an album of countrified covers of Nick Lowe’s work, appropriately dubbed Lowe Country. The artists featured on the album include Robert Ellis, Amanda Shires, and Colin Gilmore, three fantastic Texas artists whose covers are each very inspired and well-performed. A portion of the proceeds from the sales of Lowe Country benefit funds to assist relief efforts for both the Bastrop wildfires and the Nashville floods. On Monday, Robert Ellis, Amanda Shires, and Colin Gilmore will all play live on KUT from Studio 1a to promote the album.
