James Polk @ KUT 10/2/12
James Polk is about as decorated as Austin musicians get. After earning a B.A. in Music Education at Huston-Tillotson in the early 60s he moved to Elgin to teach band. After a hiatus from music in the early 70s Polk returned to music in a big way, serving as organist, pianist, writer, and arranger in the Ray Charles Orchestra. He moved back to Austin in the late 80s where he received a Master of Music at Southwest Texas State. Since then James polk has gone on to teach generations of Austin musicians. He is in our studio today with his full band playing some of his newest material. Enjoy Dr. James Polk in Studio 1a.
