A new thriller set in Texas along the Gulf Coast has a little bit of everything: mystery, humor, good guys, bad guys and even a little romance. “Thin Slice of Life” is written by Miles Arceneaux, the storytelling alter ego of Texas-based writers Brent Douglass, John T. Davis and James R. Dennis. Davis told KUT’s Emily Donahue how this alter ego got started.
Miles came about as the result of a group of friends getting together down the Gulf Coast in the late 1980s every Labor Day, which we still do some 30 years later. And there was a book at the time called ‘Naked Came the Stranger,’ which was a serial novel written by a bunch of bestselling authors as a lark. So we took a look and said, ‘Well, if they can do it, we can do it.’ So we started out trading chapters, and over the years people fell by the wayside until it sort of boiled down to Brent, James and myself, and we kept it going and really got serious about it about a year and a half ago.
