Dana Falconberry Album Release Show Tonight at the Austin Scottish Rite Theater
Really, you get the best of both worlds with an artist like Dana Falconberry. The Austin-based songwriter is not only very talented, which, in turn, makes for some incredible music, but she’s also absolutely genuine. That warmth and sincerity shines through her music and draws the listener into a completely different world, inhabited by a most gentle spirit.
I’m smitten with Falconberry’s new album, Leelanau. Each track flows in a beautiful, mesmerizing cascade of orchestral folk-pop, punctuated by delicate bursts and breathtaking sweeps, almost like an autumnal fairy tale brought to you in a crystal clear, angelic voice. A lot of attention was given to some rather complex detail in her latest work, a heartfelt tribute to the rural parts of Falconberry’s home state, Michigan, and the memories that led to a rediscovery of the land. By far, this is one of Falconberry’s best.
Don’t miss Dana Falconberry at her album release performance tonight at the Austin Scottish Rite Theater, 207 W. 18th St. This promises to be an extraordinary event, because she’ll be joined by The Tosca String Quartet, and harpist Elaine Barber. The bill includes sets by two of my favorite local bands, Marmalakes and Good Field. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the music starts at 9 p.m. This one comes highly recommended.
