Covering Texas Politics in the Dome and Beyond

October 23, 2012 5:58 am by: Angela Maldonado

Over the past decade, KUT News has brought you thorough coverage of politics in Austin and throughout the state. With your support, we’ll continue to deliver the political news you’ve come to trust.

Ben Philpott is currently reporting on the three-part series “The Republican Decade.” It’s been 10 years since the 2002 elections allowed Texas Republicans to take full control of the Texas legislature, adding enough Republicans to the Texas House to elect the first GOP Speaker since Reconstruction. Ben’s series will examine the 2003 Legislative Session and the Republican’s efforts to remake state government in its image, cutbacks at the state level and its impact on municipalities, and what the Texas GOP’s may look like in 10 years as a result of rapid growth and changing demographics.

On Nov. 6, as with past elections, KUT News will have reporters out in the field covering local and state stories late into election night. It’s your support that makes this depth of coverage possible. Please donate today. Thank you!
